BESS Technical Standards
Operational standards used for supplier qualification, documentation, QC and risk structuring. These are standards — not marketing claims.
Supplier Qualification
- Tier‑1 manufacturer only (proven capacity, consistent QA, export track record)
- Cell manufacturer disclosure required (traceability at cell + batch level)
- Capacity threshold (indicative: ≥ 1 GWh annual cell/pack throughput where applicable)
- Financial stability screening (risk flags, ownership, continuity checks)
Battery Compliance
- CE documentation required (DoC + technical file alignment)
- UN38.3 mandatory for transport readiness
- IEC 62619 where applicable (safety for industrial batteries)
- MSDS + labeling requirements completed before shipment
- EU labeling & packaging compliance (project-specific)
Quality Control
- Pre‑shipment inspection (independent 3rd party) where required
- Container loading verification (photo/video + checklist)
- Random sample audit (pack labeling, BMS config, documentation completeness)
- Traceability (batch coding + handover of trace docs)
Documentation Requirements
A project is only “deliverable” if documentation is complete. Typical package includes:
- Datasheets (system, PCS/inverter, BMS, container/enclosure)
- Certificates and test reports (UN38.3, IEC where applicable)
- MSDS + packing list + labeling
- Warranty terms + commissioning boundaries
- Incoterms and shipping documentation (aligned with payment milestones)
Risk Structuring Standards
- Project-based structuring only (no “blind catalog buys” for critical systems)
- Milestone-based payments aligned to verification checkpoints
- Clear acceptance criteria (documentation + inspection + shipping confirmation)
